Didn’t you used to be called HomeCARE for the Titan and Contessa lines but now you’re Specialty Seating for Seniors?
Yes, we did. There have been quite a few changes in our senior living division and not just with the chairs.
We found that including Home Care in our name made it so that people thought about being stuck in their homes and needing a professional care aide to take care of them. That is not at all what we want to provoke with our name!
Everyone faces some type of mobility restrictions as they grow older. It is a part of aging. Instead of bringing about a thought of being unable to care for yourself, and needing someone else to do it for you, we changed our story. Specialty Seating for Seniors is what we do. Our chairs are made with safety in mind and with mobility assistance as a priority.
So why Specialty Seating for Seniors then?
The Titan and Contessa lines are made for that, seniors. Think about it. How often do you see an elderly couple struggling to scoot their chair forward at a dining table. How awkward it must be to sit at a table sideways because you are unable to move the chair to a comfortable position. However, is there really anything out there that can change that? Yes, there is.
Our Titan line has been made with these struggles in mind. By utilizing feedback from seniors we have made the chairs more durable. We have also included mobility features that would enable individuals to be safety and easily moved up to and away from a table, without the risk of injury to the spouse or care provider.
First, we made our chairs more sturdy so that they would be more stable when an individual is sitting down or standing up. This does include our Contessa line as well.
Then, we developed the Royal EZ. Pushing a loved one forward is taxing on the caregiver so why not make that easier while still making it safe? That is exactly what we did. The Royal EZ enables a care provider to safely and easily move a seated person towards a table.
With the Royal EZ only being able to move forward and backwards, there were requests for a change. Our swivel chairs were the next innovation. Again, safety was the top priority in this decision. Every 90 degrees the chair will lock in place to ensure that the person using it will not have to worry about the swivel suddenly moving on them.
What’s next?
As we are designing specialty seating for seniors, we are always evolving our mobility options. We have several revisions and new options that are in the works now to allow for every more freedom of movement, but with safety still in mind. Stay tuned for more information on what specialty seating we are working on next!
